Call for Submissions (Spring 2016)

The Virginia Social Science Journal, a multi-disciplinary scholarly journal in the social sciences, is pleased to announce the theme for this coming year’s issue – “Gender, Race & Politics.” 2016 is sure to be a contentious year American politics as the country marks the conclusion of the first African-American presidency while simultaneously experiencing a campaign in which at least one of the nominees is a woman.  In recognition of these important landmarks, the fifty-first volume of the journal invites submission of scholarly articles from any social science discipline (anthropology, economics, gender & sexuality, health, history, international relations, media studies, politics, policy studies, sociology) on any subject.

The journal is particularly interested in submissions which engage any aspect of the fifty-first volume theme of Gender, Race & Politics.  We encourage articles addressing such questions as the persistence of racial politics on the national and international stage, the role of women in politics, and the intersection of race and gender in topics broadly construed as the social sciences.

All submitted manuscripts are selected for publication through the double-blind peer review process. The journal is published online annually with a publication date in March. The deadline for submissions is October 15.
